In his weekly 'Grumpy Old Fan' column, ROBOT 6's Tom Bondurant examines Superman, his ethics and his place within the DC Comics universe and the world at large ...
Probably not. Images for the latest wave of DC Classics action figures from Mattel have been released and they're already burning a hole in my pocket. That is to say, the money I'll be spending on them is.I'll start off with my favorite - Starman. I prefer Jack Knight but I'll take Ted in a pinch and hell, if they come in a set, why not? Usually first, but a close second in this case is the ...
I received a very well-written response to my Ryan Choi post from a reader calling himself Diabolu Frank, and rather than let it languish in the comments, I'm going to run it here, and then give my reactions at the end: ... I'm big on racial politics and the need for non-white characters to play a major role in comic book universes. I'm also opposed to handing out token memberships to minorities via dubious legacies. The latter rarely works out as well as a Mr. Terrific, who has completely
There was a way to do this properly, DC, and this wasn't it ... Yeesh ... Honestly, though, is there anyone out there who thinks Ray Palmer is actually more interesting than Ryan Choi? Because unless you're talking about the version of Ray that John C. McGinley voiced on Justice League Unlimited, or the one that dressed like a barbarian, rode around on a frog, and bedded a diminutive yellow alien princess, you're wrong ...

I think it's silly when Hollywood gets ahead of themselves by starting work on a sequel to a film that hasn't even been released yet but in this case I don't mind. Why? Because this isn't a sequel. It will appear on the Special Edition Blu-Ray and 2-Disc Special ...

Quickie reviews/reactions to recently read (though not always recently published) comics ... Maybe some SPOILERS ... So yeah, you know ... Young Allies #1 - With its mix of new and experienced young superheroes, this is sort of New Warriors Redux, but that's not a bad thing ... Good cast (Firestar is always welcome, and it's nice to see Sean McKeever writing both Gravity and Nomad again), interesting villains (Ignored super-villain offspring band together as the Bastards of Evil? Genius.), and
Well, 2 of 3 are bright ... Birds of Prey 1 is billed as a Brightest Day tie-in, but it's all Birds and it's all good. Art-wise, Benes is better than ever and story-wise, it's great to have Gail back on this book, not to mention having the book back. The Hawk and Dove story arc promises to be intriguing. Gail excels at intriguing. Best of all, she's bringing me Zinda once a month! Zinda is a great character. I do hope, though, that this go 'round, Gail sneaks in some mention of Roy, because
