As longtime running shows like Lost and 24 are singing their swan song this May, the opportunity is ripe for new shows to hook viewers in the late spring/ early summer phase of primetime television, and hopefully beyond. Happy Town is hoping to be one show you’ll gladly slide into your weekly routine. The pilot [ ... ] ...
Hank plays the ham, mis-quoting Henry V by William Shakespeare, to celebrate his 446th birthday today! Um, Shakespeare's birthday, that is, not Hank's. Although, come to think of it, do we know when Hank's birthday is? Who's to say it isn't today, huh? So ... Happy Birthday Will! (And Hank, just in case!) ... Deleted scene from the X-Men: The Last Stand DVD (2006), directed by Brett Ratner and featuring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Kelsey Grammer as The Beast ...
Hey, not all of us download this stuff, you know ... Anyway, here are some rambling and SPOILERY thoughts on an episode you probably watched weeks ago: ... 1. Let's get this out of the way: any doubts I had about Matt Smith (not that I had many, as I was willing to give him a chance) vanished pretty quickly ... Way too soon to tell if he's a favorite or not, but I'm convinced he's the Doctor, and that's good enough for me ... I really enjoyed how he played this episode, particularly how subtly
Since we're now in Brightest Day (review of issue 0 soon), I'll skip reviewing the last issues of the Blackest Night, except to say I like how it ended, even if Ralph and Sue are still dead. How Boston Brand deals with being alive (and does he still have a twin brother named Cleveland? I can't keep track of all the retconning in the DCU that happened in the 10 years I wasn't reading comics), which is somewhat more dramatic than the other characters restored to life, will be my major interest in
Finally caught up reading this, which meant reading the last BN issues of GL Corps, GL, and BN 8 in one sitting. I loved the foldout spread in BN 8. I loved the not unexpected resurrections, though some surprised me. And I'm curious about why Boston Brand was brought back to life. It would seem to negate his whole super power thing. Most satisfying was that Shiera was back, not Kendra. I liked Kendra, but she wasn't the right Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman. Hawkwoman is Shay-ara to Carter's Katar, and
@RokkRevolution not sure what list he's looking at: the Marvel app is the only one in the top 25 in reply to RokkRevolution #Happy Zombie Easter! Or, more in the spirit, "Braaaaiiiinnnsssssss" #The iPad makes me feel like I'm living in the future. #Finally got the iPad. So far, it is terrific. #They should nickname [ ... ] ...
(Click to make it Titan-sized.) ... I picked up so many sketches at Super Show, I'll have fresh fodder for Pretty Sketchy posts for months ... I don't know if I could pick one favorite, but this is definitely among the three or four vying for that top spot: the Legion of Super-Heroes' resident telepath Saturn Girl, rendered by Fred Chao ... I'm such a fan of his book Johnny Hiro that I would've been happy to walk away with a napkin scribbling from Fred; getting a full-on sketch from him was

I am so far behind. Here are a few comics I recently read ... Secret Six ... Gail Simone at her best. And it's a child in jeopardy story. And the child is a boy. And I'm betting the outcome will be better for the boy than it was for Lian Harper in Cry for Justice. And no, I can't get over her death. So, expect more ranting now and then. Cheshire is such a fascinating character, so the next installment should be most entertaining ... Batman 697 ... Creepy. As long as Dick successfully fills the
I went to the Emerald City Comicon with every intention of blogging photos and keeping up a stream of information. That obviously didn't happen, so here I am today following up ... This year I volunteered again for HERO Initiative and then I helped Jim out at the Sequential Treasures artist alley table. Between those ventures, seeing old friends, and trying to recover from being sick, while deciding if alcohol would interact poorly with my meds, it was quite the full plate. LOL ... The good news
